Kawempe Muslim Secondary School was established in 1984 as part of Uganda’s education expansion policy aimed at increasing access to secondary education across the country. The school was founded in recognition of the strong academic performance of Kawempe Muslim Primary School and with support from the Muslim community, the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, and government education authorities.

It initially operated from Kawempe Muslim Primary School before relocating the same year to its current site on Kyadondo Hill, Kawempe Division. Since then, it has grown into a leading government-aided Islamic-founded secondary school, offering both O-Level and A-Level education.

Built on a foundation of academic excellence, discipline, and moral values, the school continues to nurture responsible and successful students under its guiding motto, “Go Higher.”

Kawempe is a mixed day and boarding secondary school.
